Yesterday we visited the Ballarat Art Gallery. It was a great opportunity to view some iconic paintings and sculptures but to aslo view some new and exciting exhibitions that they currently have there.

Well its almost spring here at Glen Park and our dozens of bulbs are popping up all over the place.

This is the twelfth year of the Japan Challenge competition open to school children in the Ballarat area who are studying Japanese as a second language. This is the first year that we have been involved. This year’s theme is anime. We finished our posters yesterday and they will be displayed before judging at Ballarat…

Simone, our LOTE teacher brought along a Japanese student teacher that she has visiting her, Maho from Osaka. She helped us with our language and also our Japanese cooking. We made yummy Okonomi which is like a savoury pancake/omlette.

Recently we completed a unit on World War Two and we studied Carrie’s War and The Silver Sword. We also studied what led to war and built model aircraft and created a diorama or a war ruined city. As a follow-up to that we visited the Point Cook RAAF Air Museum and viewed an aerobatics…

What better way to help visualise the lives of characters from Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre than to visit a stately Victorian Manor House and that’s what we did when we went on an excursion to Werribee Mansion.

Wednesday 13th was a freezing day but we were able to spend some time playing in the snow but then went inside to a cosy classroom and some hot jam topped scones to warm us up.

We are being well and truly spoilt this year with snow. On the 13th June we had another big dump of snow at Glen Park over night and we arrived at school to find everything white….and of course very cold!

We went on an excursion on the 15th July to the Essendon FC training facilities and to the MCG for a tour and some interactive fun.

On June 15th  we went to see Matilda at the Princess Theatre in Melbourne. One of our School Council members went with us along with some ex-students who have kept in contact with us. We were also able to bring along student teachers’ Felicity and Lucy. Everyone gave it a thumbs up.The sets, songs, effects…
