We went to Sovereign Hill for an excursion this term and although a bit chilly at the diggings we had a great time. A big thank you to Alison Middleton for being our guide.

We have resumed our swimming program for 2018. One instructor for every two students means we see lots of improvement from our students by the end of our ten week program. We also checked out some old railway engines (Grade Prep-1 are studying train themed books) waiting for restoration.

On 23rd May we went to see the Wizard of Oz (so to speak) at the Regent Theatre in Melbourne. This was our Arts excursion for 2018. Previously we’ve seen Wicked, Matilda, Mary Poppins and more. We had a great time.

We enjoy hands on science at Glen Park which includes a local environmental education visit to Lake Wendouree, testing solubility and viscosity, studying Australian native animals and their environment and recently studying plants and seeds.

We commemorated ANZAC day this year at Glen Park by baking ANZAC cookies and completed Flanders poppies art activities.

We have now been back to school for 2 weeks and we’ve well and truly settled in. We started learning straight away (no ‘testing days’ here)and have been enjoying the air conditioned comfort of our rooms while we work and during break time. Our new prep for 2018, Lola had her orientation day this week. She had a great time with her sister and new friends at school. We also had our school photos taken including one at Sovereign Hill.

As our final major excursion for 2017, we visited Sovereign Hill for the day. We dressed up, panned for gold and watched a gold pour.

Glen Park is now totally free of all asbestos (We even had our school safe removed because it had asbestos in it!) we have also had a ramp built and repairs completed on our shelter shed. .
