Spring
Its been a long winter but hopefully spring has now arrived. Our bulbs are out and hopefully we can get into our kitchen garden and start enjoying our revamped playground. Glen Park looks great in spring.

We have just finished building a new addition to our playground equipment. Our old fort was sadly too difficult to maintain, so we built a new one to replace it. We will add pieces onto it over the next few years including a shop front, climbing wall and maybe another slide.

We just wrapped up our 10 week one hour swimming lessons at the Ballarat YMCA. Our students made great progress over the course of their lessons. Just before the holidays we went on our main excursion for term 2 to see an IMAX 3-D movie on the Great Barrier Reef and followed that up with a terrific visit to the Melbourne Aquarium.

We’ve been very busy this term. The children finished their ANZAC Day models, had a BBQ at Kirk’s Reservoir and have been hard at work in Japanese with Simone and Italian with Lucy.

We had the Begonia Festival in Ballarat last weekend.We thought we’d avoid the crowds and because we are currently reading The Secret Garden, we went to the Ballarat Botanical Gardens. This year we decided to only grow plants in our kitchen garden that we want to eat. After a short survey we determined that we should plant strawberries and potatoes. We planted our strawberries this week and our potatoes in August/September.

One of the great things about being at Glen Park in the warm sunny weather is that we have plenty of space and plenty of shade and we can take our fold up chairs and picnic rugs and head outside to read, eat lunch, work on our iPads or enjoy some water play.
